Credit for First-Time Home Buyers: First -time home buyers can qualify for an $8,000 refund when they purchase a home before December 1st.

Trash Collection Changes
LEAP Forward Program

As of January 1, 2009 the City of Toledo is implementing a new trash collection system. Refuse collection days will move forward one business day after each city holiday, thus resulting in no weekend holiday collection.

Toledo Police Apply For COPS Grant Funding

On Monday, March 16, Mayor Finkbeiner and Chief of Police Michael Navarre have submitted a COPS Hiring Recovery Program application, requesting $34,594,050 in economic stimulus funds from the Obama administration. If approved, this would allow TPD to hire and retain 150 police officers.

The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department’s Fire Chief, Michael W. Wolever, honored members of the Fire Department who have demonstrated exemplary service and extraordinary performance of their duties as a firefighter and/or paramedic. Additionally, he presented a letter of appreciation and a life-saving award to two Toledo area citizens.
 
Following the Awards Ceremony, The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department the 48th Anniversary Memorial Service of the Anthony Wayne Trail Fire was held at the Toledo Firefighters Memorial in Chub DeWolfe Park.

 Toledo Named An All-America City Finalist!

On Friday, April 3, Mayor Finkbeiner held a press conference announcing that Toledo has been named a finalist for the 2009 All-America City competition. All-America City is considered the 'Oscar' of civic awards, and is only awarded to those cities that demonstrate a commitment to finding creative solutions to various challenges. A delegation representing Toledo will travel to Florida from June 16-19 to show the nation why we are an All-America City!
