General Inspectors work in eight (8) areas of the city. Each inspector is responsible for enforcing housing, nuisance, and zoning codes. Code Enforcement also processes demolition of vacant and abandoned structures. Inspectors are authorized to view and photograph code violations and issue a ticket for public nuisance. A ticket will require the payment of progressive fines unless the property is brought into compliance with the code. If the property is not brought into compliance, a criminal misdemeanor and/or civil case may be filed against the property owner in the Toledo Municipal Court.
It is important to the Department of Neighborhoods and the Division of Code enforcement to serve the residents of the City of Toledo in bringing all properties into compliance with the Toledo Municipal Code. Code violations should be reported to 419-936-2020, Call City Hall. Also, a code violation can be filed on-line by clicking here.
